Multi-plane optical diagnostics for flow dynamics and turbulent flame fronts

Abstract:

This thesis presents the first application of defocusing macroscopic Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) based on an image splitting device. The compact and low-cost image splitting optics design provides the potential to extend any existing single-plane PIV system for flow field measurements on at least two planes.
