Previous work concerning the structure of chrysotile is first reviewed, to provide a basis for discussion of the natures of two of the less common varieties of chrysotile andndash; Povlen-type chrysotile and para-chrysotile. The results of x-ray diffraction, electron diffraction and electron-optical experiments on Povlen-type chrysotile are presented.
