Abstract:

The mechanical properties of reactor pressure vessel (RPV) steels are known to degrade during operation. Hardening embrittlement, due to solute cluster/precipitate formation, and non-hardening embrittlement, as a result of solute segregation to internal interfaces, are a major concern.
