The grand strategy of Toyotomi Hideyoshi 1582-1598: peace through hegemony

Abstract:

This thesis applies the concept of grand strategy to late sixteenth century Japan, when Toyotomi Hideyoshi pacified the archipelago and invaded Korea. Grand strategy refers to the highest form of statecraft and broadens the strategic mindset to embrace war preparation and mobilization, incorporating political, diplomatic, and economic policy-making.
