Abstract:

During the last academic year, my colleagues and I have undergone a significant degree of training in school to change the culture of teaching to one where the pupils are ‘active participants’ in all lessons. I am the only Teacher of Music and in my additional role as Gifted and Talented Coordinator, I have spoken to many colleagues about the challenges of applying appropriate strategies to increase pupil attainment and engender a consistent motivation to learn, beyond that for an assessment....
