Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a growing public health concern with rising diagnosis rates and no preventive treatments. Early-stage monitoring is crucial for understanding disease progression and smartwatches offer great potential in early detection to enable this. This DPhil thesis investigates how wrist-worn accelerometers can be used to help predict incident PD, through the detection of early markers of the disease.
