Identifying causal mechanisms for beta cell dysfunction at type 2 diabetes risk loci

Abstract:

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified more than 150 loci associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) risk. Most association signals are located in noncoding regions of the genome, and uncertainty remains over the causal gene in the vast majority of cases.
