Liquid crystal technologies for laser-based imaging applications
- Abstract:

Laser speckle restricts image quality and user comfort in systems illuminated by coherent light. In this thesis, liquid-crystal (LC) devices operating in the dynamic scattering mode (DSM) are investigated as coherence modulators for speckle reduction and, more broadly, for spatial–temporal coherence control of optical fields. The work spans device architectures, LC phase/mixture selection, LC mixture optimisation, spatio-temporal characterisation, and system-level demonstrations.
