Thesis
Study of iron-based cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries
- Abstract:
-
The work described in this thesis focuses on the exploration of a series of metastable iron-based oxide materials as potential cathodes for lithium-ion batteries.
LiFe1-xMxO2 (M = Al, Ga) phases were synthesized by a low-temperature topochemical cation exchange reaction from the corresponding NaFe1-xMxO2 phases. Structures of LiFe1- xAlxO2 are described in space group Pna21 with the tetrahedral site containing a mixing of iron and aluminium. Structures of LiFe1-xGaxO2 are described...
