Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) retesting intervals in primary care

Abstract:
Background: The utility of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test in primary care remains uncertain. It is unclear whether screening with PSA reduces prostate cancer mortality sufficiently to outweigh the harms of overdiagnosis and overtreatment. For this reason, PSA screening is not recommended in the UK. Instead, patients may request a PSA test following shared decision-making with their GP.
