Abstract:

5-HT (5-Hydroxy-tryptamine; serotonin) neurons located in the midbrain dorsal raphe nucleus (DRN) are implicated in many brain functions in health including aversive processing and are the target of the first line drug treatment for anxiety and depression, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
