Novel and selective small molecule inhibitors and activators for the prolyl hydroxylase domain enzyme

Abstract:

Hypoxia Inducible Factors (HIF) functions are master regulators of oxygen homeostasis and have a key role in the physiological responses to hypoxia including angiogenesis and erythropoiesis. Under hypoxia, levels of HIF-α subunits increase, they hetereodimerise with HIF-1β sub unit and promote the initiation of transcription of target genes.
