What it means to be a zero: the meaning of legal status, restrictions and freedom among stateless people in northern Thailand

Abstract:

This research explores the everyday lived experiences of de jure statelessness in northern Thailand. The region is home to approximately 200,000 registered stateless people—including ethnically non-Thai groups in the borderlands, undocumented migrants, and their children.
