Abstract:

Zirconium alloys has been extensively used as the commercial cladding and structural materials in water cooled nuclear reactors in the last half century. Nevertheless, the formation of brittle hydrides due to the aqueous corrosion in operation will significantly degrade the performance of the zirconium claddings and limit their lifetime.
