The General Control Non-depressible protein 4 (GCN4) is a transcription factor found in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and is involved in the regulation of amino acid biosynthesis in response to stress response. GCN4 is member of the bZIP transcription factors superfamily and is an intrinsically disordered protein that recognises and binds to specific DNA sites through its Basic Region (BR), located in the basic leucine zipper domain (bZIP).
