Combining data from consumers and traditional medicine practitioners to provide a more complete picture of Chinese bear bile
- Documentation:
-
From March-June 2018, we carried out face-to-face surveys with members of the public (hereafter referred to as ‘public surveys’), and key-informant interviews with TCM doctors and pharmacy workers to investigate consumption, prescription, and perception of bear bile products (hereafter referred to as ‘practitioner interviews’). We collected data in the provincial capital cities of Nanning (Guangxi), Guangzhou (Guangdong), Changchun (Jilin), and Chengdu (Sichuan) in China.
Analysis of the UCT was carried out using the R package 'List' and the combinedListDirect function (Blair et al. 2019. List: Statistical Methods for the Item Count Technique and List Experiment; Aronow, Coppock, Crawford, and Green (2015): Combining List Experiment and Direct Question Estimates of Sensitive Behavior Prevalence)
