Chapter 1: Introduction
The introduction gives an overview of the different strategies for the reduction of azaarenes, with a particular focus on transfer hydrogenation approaches for the synthesis of aliphatic N-heterocycles. The second half of the introduction presents a brief overview of relevant dearomative reductive functionalisation reactions of azaarenes published in recent years.
