In this study, we examined the role of simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV)-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) in macaques immunized with an attenuated strain of simian immunodeficiency virus (SIVmac239Deltanef) in protection against pathogenic challenge with SIVmac251.
