ACTH, LPH, and beta-endorphin secretion from perfused isolated human pituitary tumour cells in vitro.

Abstract:
We report the chromatographic characterization of the ACTH- and LPH-related peptides released from isolated cells prepared from human ACTH-secreting pituitary tumours obtained at surgery (trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomy) from 2 patients with pituitary-dependent Cushing's disease and 2 patients with Nelson's syndrome. The dynamic release of these peptides in response to various stimuli, including rat stalk-median eminence extract (SME) and synthetic arginine vasopressin (AVP) was studied.
