Double-well magnetic trap for Bose-Einstein condensates

Abstract:
A magnetic trapping scheme for neutral atoms for studying the behavior of Bose-Einstein condensates in double-well potentials was presented. The trapping scheme was based on a hybrid of Ioffe-Pritchard and time-averaged orbital potential traps. The double-well magnetic potential obtained using the scheme was found to have readily controllable barrier height and well separation.
