Migration et intégration des Haoussa en pays bamiléké (Ouest-Cameroun): 1903-1960

Abstract:

In the process of the constitution of the chiefdoms, diverse elements fused and this gave birth to a situation of ethnic homogeneity and henceforth it is difficult to distinguish those who are of the Ndobo origin and those who are not. However, once in the bamileke plateau, the Hausa quality such as their mobility and commercial dynamism will be influenced because of their integration in this new milieu; jealous of her cultural values. The understanding of the Hausa’s of the bamileke country, demands a proper comprehension of numerous and devastating wars of the upper Benue region which prompted the migration of various groups in the south and west and the importance that those with an open culture can benefit faced with the constraints of colonization. All these aspects necessitate the study of the migrations of the Hausa in the bamileke country and the evaluation of the importance of their integration in this region. Through this statement of problem, guided by written and oral sources, we are going to reveal another peculiarity of the Hausa’s which is far from their commercial and mobile character which had always distinguished them.
