Measurement of the ๐๐(1๐) production cross-section in ๐ ๐ collisions at ๐ โ=13 TeV
- Abstract:
- Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0 fbโ1, collected by the LHCb experiment, the production of the ๐๐(1๐) state in protonโproton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of ๐ โ=13 TeV is studied in the rapidity range 2.0<๐ฆ<4.5 and in the transverse momentum range 6.5<๐T<14.0GeV. The cross-section for prompt production of ๐๐(1๐) mesons relative to that of the ๐ฝ/๐ meson is measured using the ๐ ๐โฏโฏโฏ decay mode and is found to be ๐๐๐(1๐)/๐๐ฝ/๐=1.69ยฑ0.15ยฑ0.10ยฑ0.18. The quoted uncertainties are, in order, statistical, systematic and due to uncertainties on the branching fractions of the ๐ฝ/๐โ๐๐โฏโฏโฏ and ๐๐โ๐๐โฏโฏโฏ decays. The prompt ๐๐(1๐) production cross-section is determined to be ๐๐๐(1๐)=1.26ยฑ0.11ยฑ0.08ยฑ0.14ฮผb, where the last uncertainty includes that on the ๐ฝ/๐ meson cross-section. The ratio of the branching fractions of ๐-hadron decays to the ๐๐(1๐) and ๐ฝ/๐ states is measured to be ๎ฎ๐โ๐๐๐/๎ฎ๐โ๐ฝ/๐๐=0.48ยฑ0.03ยฑ0.03ยฑ0.05, where the last uncertainty is due to those on the branching fractions of the ๐ฝ/๐โ๐๐โฏโฏโฏ and ๐๐โ๐๐โฏโฏโฏ decays. The difference between the ๐ฝ/๐ and ๐๐(1๐) masses is also determined to be 113.0ยฑ0.7ยฑ0.1MeV, which is the most precise single measurement of this quantity to date.
