Close the Door on Your Way Out - A Bystander's Guide to Brexit
- Abstract:
-
This working paper, accompanying a presentation to the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Private Law in Hamburg on 1 March 2017, considers a number of legal and practical aspects of the UK's prospective withdrawal from the European Union, including first reactions, possible approaches to the negotiations, the demands of legislation to implement withdrawal and legal challenges. The final sections of the draft paper (not included in this working paper) have been adapted for publication in the Zeitschrift für Europäisches Privatrecht (September 2017) under the title “Free Movement of Judgments in Civil Matters – A ‘Brexit’ Case Study”.
