Assessing the viability of general practice in China

Abstract:

Background: China has had a well-known tradition of primary care, particularly its barefoot doctors in the 1960s and 1970s, and it contributed to the Declaration of Alma-Ata. In 2011 China formally launched a new, ambitious plan of establishing a system of general practitioner (GP) care by 2020; and aims to train 300,000 GPs.
