International conference of students of systematic musicology (SysMus15)
- Abstract:
- At the 8th international Conference of Students of Systematic Musicology (SysMus15), in the tradition-rich city of Leipzig, Germany, early-stage researchers representing numerous subdivisions of Systematic Musicology found a platform from which to share, discuss, and forward interdisciplinary research. Additionally, Eric Clarke (Oxford University), Daniela Sammler (Max Planck Institute of Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences), and Matthias Vogel (University of Giessen) held keynote speeches about different topics that were united through their relatedness toward music. Yet, the urge to climb down the “ivory tower” and open up modern Musicology even further was found throughout the whole conference. This report provides an overview of the conference and relates the inherently interdisciplinary and collaborative approach of the early-stage researchers in attendance.
