Abstract:

Although the endothelium co-generates both nitric oxide (NO) and endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF), the relative contribution from each vasodilator is not clear. In studies where the endothelium is stimulated acutely, EDHF responses predominate in small arteries.
