Implementing structured pedagogy programmes at scale

Abstract:
This synthesis brief examines the components and implementation of structured pedagogy programmes at scale, a teaching and learning approach built around a carefully sequenced progression of competencies, detailed lesson plans, student learning materials, teacher training, coaching, and support. The brief outlines what structured pedagogy is, summarises evidence on its effectiveness and cost-effectiveness in improving foundational learning outcomes, identifies the core elements of effective programmes, explores considerations for scaling these programmes within education systems, and highlights research gaps for future work.
