Metabolomic stratification of long COVID reveals inflammatory and neuroendocrine subtypes and divergent recovery trajectories

Documentation:
This dataset contains the metabolomic data from a study of Long COVID. Participants were non-hospitalised adults with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection, recruited in Oxford, UK: 65 with Long COVID and 64 recovered COVID-19 controls, frequency-matched for age, sex, and BMI. Samples were collected at baseline and, where available, at follow-up 9–12 months later (42 with Long COVID, 44 controls). Serum and urine ¹H NMR spectra were acquired on a 950 MHz Bruker Avance III HD spectrometer (serum: CPMG; urine: 1D NOESY presaturation). Resonances were manually integrated and sum-normalised, and are reported as relative intensities. Variables are labelled by chemical-shift range in ppm, prefixed S (serum) or U (urine). Serum steroids and endocannabinoids were quantified by targeted LC-MS/MS (SCIEX 7500). Baseline and follow-up LC-MS/MS data were acquired in separate batches and are not directly comparable in absolute terms.
