Early Modern Letters Online: a collaboratively populated union catalogue of the Republic of Letters

- This deposit is a version of the Early Modern Letters Online (EMLO) dataset, a union catalogue of correspondence metadata relating chiefly to the early modern Republic of Letters (c. 1500–1800). Developed within the Cultures of Knowledge project at the University of Oxford, the dataset aggregates and reconciles correspondence records contributed by libraries, archives, scholarly editions, research projects, and individual researchers. The deposited dataset contains letter, person, place, and catalogue metadata curated through EMLO’s editorial platform and exported from the production database. The dataset supports reuse in historical, literary, and digital humanities research, particularly for the study of correspondence networks, information flows, intellectual communities, and linked historical data. This version of the basic metadata was extracted from EMLO on 31 January 2019.
