Extracts from The Cochrane Library: Topical anaesthetic or vasoconstrictor preparations for flexible fibre-optic nasal pharyngoscopy and laryngoscopy.

Abstract:: The "Cochrane Corner" is a quarterly section in the Journal that highlights systematic reviews relevant to otolaryngology- head and neck surgery, with invited commentary to aid clinical decision making. This installment features a Cochrane Review, "Topical Anaesthetic or Vasoconstrictor Preparations for Flexible Fibre-optic Nasal Pharyngoscopy and Laryngoscopy," that finds no evidence of reduced pain or discomfort for topical treatment prior to endoscopy.
