Cryoelectrochemisty with cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry has been applied to give an insight into a reductive pyrroline ring opening reaction, and has allowed the number of electrons participating in the reaction to be deduced from potential step experiments. © 2005 Elsevier Ltd.
