Synthesis of a carborane-substituted bis(phosphanido) cobaltate(i), ligand substitution, and unusual P<sub>4</sub>fragmentation

Abstract:
Cobalt and nickel complexes of a new carborane-substituted bis(phosphanido) ligand have been prepared. Reaction of the cobalt complex with white phosphorus (P4) results in a remarkable fragmentation of P4 into P3 and P1 units.
