- To see what the creative economy of Britain could be like without the BBC, we have a test case already: the North of England. Compare the North West and North East over the past five years, in the context of the BBC moving substantial assets into one city (Manchester) but not another (Newcastle) and, as Alex Connock argues, we can see a stark result.
