Magnetic susceptibility of n-type GaAs

Abstract:
The magnetic susceptibility χ of n-type GaAs was determined for a wide variety of dopants and carrier concentrations n ranging from 3.0 × 10 6 cm 3 to 3.6 × 10 18 cm 3 over a temperature range from 9 to 300 K. A constant χ is found for n up to ≈2 × 10 17 cm 3 (at 300 K). For higher n, the diamagnetic susceptibility increases linearly with n 1/3 in accordance with the LandauPeierls term. This behavior is independent of the type of dopant. In contrast to χ, the rate of change dχ/dT depends on n in a more complex, non-monotonic way. © 2012 IOP Publishing Ltd.
