Propagation in a longitudinally magnetized plasma-filled coaxial waveguide

Abstract:
Rotating coordinates are used to derive the dispersion equation for electromagnetic waves propagating in a longitudinally magnetized plasma-filled coaxial waveguide. The plasma is taken to be collisional so far as electron motion is concerned. The reflection coefficient for an air-plasma interface in such a waveguide system is determined assuming that coupling is predominantly to the fundamental plasma mode. The results of computations for standard precision coaxial waveguide at 9 GHZ are given for both propagation constant and reflection coefficient as a function of normalized collision frequency, normalized plasma frequency and normalized cyclotron frequency.
