OBJECTIVE: The ank/ank mouse develops a phenotype similar to ankylosing spondylitis (AS) in humans. ANKH, the human homolog of the mutated gene in the ank/ank mouse, has been implicated in familial autosomal-dominant chondrocalcinosis and autosomal-dominant craniometaphyseal dysplasia.
