The contemporary usage of academic hoods in Oxford collegiate choirs

Abstract:
The question of hood-wearing etiquette within choirs has always been something of a contentious one. Many who have followed this line of inquiry will know the work of the late Dr Nicholas Groves, whose article explored many of the myths surrounding hood-wearing in a choir environment. However, arguments still persist—and, regardless of what the Canons say (be they the 1604 or 1969 revisions), tradition and personal opinion still seem to win out in most cases.
