Knowledge Management in an academic library
- Abstract:
- The author of this article endeavours to examine a complex Knowledge Management (KM) concept through a practical approach in the knowledge environment. This paper attempts to distinguish information from knowledge and define Knowledge Management. The article focuses on the KM elements in the academic environment with particular reference to the Oxford University Library Services. OULS) and outlines the need to include KM in library strategy in order to retain ‘Know-How’ for the benefits of its staff and users. Tools and techniques for KM implementation are discussed and risks and benefits analysis is offered.
