On the nomenclatorial status of the genus Kalriana (Decapoda, Atyidae)

Abstract:: The nomenclatorial status of the poorly known atyid shrimp genus Kalriana Zuberi (1990) from Pakistan is assessed. As no type species was designated, the genus name is nomenclatorially not available although it can safely be considered a synonym of Caridina H. Milne Edwards, 1837. The four species included in the genus by Zuberi (1990) are available names but clearly refer to the same taxon and are here considered as junior synonyms of the geographically widespread Caridina fernandoi Arudpragasam & Costa, 1962.
