Adjuvant therapy of colorectal cancer.
- Abstract:
- Because more than half of patients with no macroscopic sign of residual tumor nonetheless die of recurrence or metastasis, adjuvant treatments before or after resection may hold special importance. The two best-proved strategies are postoperative chemotherapy for stage C colon cancer and preoperative radiotherapy for stage B or C rectal cancer. Progress also continues toward several novel interventions.
