Retrieval of ash properties from IASI measurements

Abstract:

A new optimal estimation algorithm for the retrieval of volcanic ash properties has been developed for use with the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI). The retrieval method uses the wave number range 680-1200cm-1, which contains window channels, the CO2 v2 band (used for the height retrieval), and the O3 v3 band.
