Invasive group A streptococcal infection outbreaks and clusters associated with outpatient and ambulatory settings in South East England 2015–2025: descriptive study and narrative literature review

Abstract:
We described outbreaks of invasive group A streptococcal (iGAS) infection in outpatient and ambulatory care (OAC) settings in our region and in the literature. Outbreaks affected older patients receiving wound care or, rarely, following cosmetic surgery. Findings highlight risks of GAS transmission in OAC and the need for prevention and surveillance.
