Abstract:

The mechanisms leading to microangiopathy in diabetes mellitus have still not been clearly elucidated. We hypothesized that type I diabetes mellitus affects the endothelium and alters flow-dependent dilation of arterioles, an important mechanism involved in local regulation of blood flow.
