The Coniacian Working Group of the Cretaceous Subcommission on Stratigraphy has recommended the First Occurrence (FO) of the inoceramid bivalve Cremnoceramus rotundatus (sensu Tröger non Fiege) as criterion for recognising the Turonian-Coniacian boundary.
