Which special measure? A guide for adults giving evidence in cases of rape and sexual assault [Leaflet]
- Abstract:
- An information leaflet for adult victim-survivors of rape and sexual abuse about the different ways of giving evidence to the police and at court. This includes special measures such as the video recorded police interview, screens, live link, and video recorded cross-examination (sometimes called pre-recorded cross-examination). The leaflet was made for education and training purposes, and as an aid for police, Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVAs) and legal professionals to use when guiding special measures conversations with adult victim-survivors. A video has also been created to accompany the leaflet. The leaflet was made with input from key stakeholders, including members of the legal profession, policy makers, witness support services and Independent Sexual Violence Advisors from Rape Crisis member centres and Sexual Assault Referral Centres.
