Preparation and reactivity of cyclodec-2-yn-1-one

Abstract:: The preparation, by silicon-accelerated Friedel-Crafts alkylation, and Diels-Alder reaction of cyclodec-2-yn-1-one is reported. The ynone is shown to be unstable with respect to chromatography on silica gel, isomerising to bicyclo[4.4.0]dec-1(6)-en-2-one.
