Synthetic biology of terpenoid fine chemicals by coupling terpene synthases with engineered P450BM3

Abstract:

Terpenes are a diverse class of natural products biosynthesized by terpene synthases from simple isoprenoid precursors such as farnesyl pyrophosphate (FPP) and geranyl pyrophosphate (GPP). Terpene synthases catalyse the cyclization and rearrangement of these precursors to generate complex hydrocarbon skeletons, which can be further modified by oxidases such as cytochrome P450 enzymes.
