Abstract:

Research on predicting and preventing episodes of schizophrenia and mood disorder lacks consistent, specific definitions of episodes. We present an operational system for identifying relapse, exacerbation, and remission of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder within longitudinal studies that involve repeated symptom assessments.
