Expression and sequence analysis of the Blumeria graminis mitogen-activated protein kinase genes, mpk1 and mpk2.

Abstract:

Mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinases represent a group of serine/threonine kinases which play a pivotal role in signal transduction processes in eukaryotic cells. Using degenerate PCR primer design based on published and aligned MAP kinase sequences we have cloned and characterised two MAP kinase genes from the barley powdery mildew fungus, Blumeria graminis.
