Electron spin resonance study of perturbed di-interstitials in diamond
- Abstract:
- Twelve satellite centres, labelled as R1A-L, were detected and characterised by electron spin resonance around the RI centre, which was previously identified with the di-interstitial in diamond. The RI satellites exhibit spin S = I and monoclinic-1 symmetry; their spin-spin interaction constant D is less than or equal to4% smaller, but the anisotropy parameter E is significantly larger than that of the R I centre. All the satellites anneal out at a temperature in the range 300-350 degreesC, which is slightly lower than that of the RI centre. However, the RI centre, but not its satellites, can be restored by UV illumination after annealing at temperatures as high as 800 degreesC. The experimental observations can be accounted for by a model assigning the R1A..L centres to distinct pairs of a di-interstitial and a neutral vacancy located in the {110} symmetry plane of the di-interstitial.
